LE OPERE
Angeli
The Angels protect and accompany us since we came down to this earth and if, as John Rusking wrote, someone really sees the Angels where others see only an empty space, then let’s paint them!!!!
The genesis of this exhibition derives from an inner movement born from a study on world religions and from the observation of the universal presence of the Angels that goes far beyond the borders of western culture.
In general, in the iconography of these celestial figures (except in some particular cases) they are complementary to sacred images more than truly protagonists .red more >>

I NUDI
“… Women who have time and desire to love ….”
this is a phrase by Rodin to which our artist is very attached, so much so that in 1999 at Palazzo Barberini in Rome, Cinzia Cotellessa, inaugurated an exhibition with the aforementioned phrase: an exhibition basically consisting of portraits of women of all ages and ethnicities , naked and not …

BIANCO E NERO
CHE PALLE… OVVEROSIA “LE PALLE ROTTE”
“… CHE PALLE … !!!” that is, the broken balls, minimalist works in mixed technique and oil and related to cracking art. The irony proper to this type of painting becomes a real banner for this artist. Even in her figurative works there is always a thread of humor already appeared in 2004 in the work “La diciannovesima buca”, a large sanguine 100×70,, a nude that is ironically inspired by the noble sport of golf and, in this particular work, to everything outside of it red more>>

PETS PASSION
These works were made from 2010 to 2017, years in which the artist made the portraits of our best friends … they are cats and dogs made both in sanguine and in oil on canvas.
These works were exhibited at the Torretta Valadier, secondly at the Horti di Veio and at the Galleria Stefano Simmi in Rome. The idea of this exhibition arose from the desire to be able to help strays who don’t have a home. She distributed a poster in Rome that said: DO YOU WANT TO HAVE THE PORTRAIT OF YOUR BEST FRIEND? red more >>

RIBBONS
The figurative art has always been full of symbolisms sometimes hidden and mysterious, sometimes esoteric, sometimes linked to something that the artist could not represent openly…
Symbol, a word that derives from the Greek verb symballo, “to reunite” two parts of an object and this reunion allows the recognition of a commonality between the owners of each half and in this it joins the theory of Plato’s hermaphrodites, but the whole that is created still retains, even in the new identity, the trace of the difference of a sense that does not close.....red more >>

FENG SHUI
Understanding how an inspiration is born is not a simple thing but the characteristic of the artist Cinzia Cotellessa is her joie de vivre and the curiosity that often leads her to venture successfully even in philosophies far from her western culture. In the path of each artist there is always research. The research belongs to this “profession” and perhaps an artist who does not search is not a true artist ….. red more >>

EGGS
Telling the life and work of an artist like Cinzia Cotellessa, who has worked for over thirty years passing through many periods and styles, is a complex operation.
I just want to remember her sanguine, her nudes, the delicious Angels, portraits of great artists and then, in the aniconic phase, the golf balls and now the eggs, always interspersed with the ribbon of life, the ribbon that accompanied various periods of her painting, binding them to each other…. red more. >>
